LITMUS

LITMUS represents a very personal collaboration with three of the most influential political blogs in the UK: LeftFootForward, LibDemVoice and ConservativeHome.

Launched at the Lib Dem Conference as a limited edition newspaper, LITMUS was developed to inspire evidence-based debate that transcends party politics, around 6 issues facing the UK today: the economy, climate change, social justice, electoral reform, immigration and technology.

The paper was just the start with online discussion encouraged across the three editor blogs and through Twitter and Facebook. Reader comments were then featured in each new print run of newspapers and opinions shared with key party members.

The paper was available to download at litmustest.org, with readers invited to ‘pay with a tweet’, sharing the paper with their own networks in return for a download link.

The newspaper alone was read by more than 20,000 people including leading politicians and political commentators. It was referenced on BBC’s Any Questions, became a trending topic on Twitter in its first week of availability and inspired hundreds of comments across the political blogosphere.

We are currently in talks with partners about extending LITMUS to host a series of live online debates.
